Lowell – King Printing Company Inc., a manufacturer and publisher of books, recently announced that it made its first significant international shipment. The company shipped 15,000 copies of “Wuh Lax and the Cosmic Lantern,” a children’s book by A.W. Lake, to Togwells Publishing Publishing in Togwells, U.K. The shipment included 10,000 soft-cover copies of the 320-page book and 5,000 hard covers. Privately-held King, which employs about 100 people at its Industrial Avenue facility, specializes in so-called “short-run” publishing, where as few as just a couple hundred copies of any given title are created for independent authors. The company says it has worked with almost 5,000 authors in the past six years.
