If I want to use other people's writings can I just copy it and include it in my book?
If a writing is copyrighted by an author you must get permission from that author or publisher who may authorize the reprint. The phone number or address is indicated in the front of the book or you can take the ISBN number on the back of the book, browse Bowker.com to see who owns the rights to the work. In most cases when a learning institution is involved the permission will be provided however you must acknowledge that the item copied with the permission from a specific author or publishing house. The author or the publisher must get this permission, as it will not be given to the printer. |
