Prepare Files
(Dos & Don'ts) |
PDF is a format now used that can eliminate alot of the above mentioned
problems. There are, however, different ways to create PDF files.
You can create PDF files for web applications that will look great
on the web but will look terrible when output to print. PDF files
used for print need a different resolution than those used for web
applications and must be created using specific settings. Check with
your printer to see how they would like you to prepare PDF files.
We reccomend that you consider puchasing Adobe Acrobat® for
creating PDF files. The distiller portion uses profiles that you
can setup that will correctly output your file as a PDF that can
be used by most, if not all, printers. It also allows you to create
PDF's from virtually any desktop application. You can buy Acrobat
directly from Adobe online, or
at most computer software vendors.
If you already have Acrobat, here are 2 profiles we created that
you can use to prepare your PDF's for printing at Adibooks: Acrobat
4.0, Acrobat
5.0.
Note: Do not confuse the free Acrobat Reader with the full
version. The reader is a free software package that allows people
to view and print PDF's, who do not have the full version. The full
version is several hundred dollars.
